At the end of a strange 14 months of lockdown, our orchestra got together, for sectional rehearsals during May and June (following all the Covid 19 guidance).
The String sections worked on
Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for strings and Peter Warlock’s Capriol
The Woodwind and Brass sections worked on
Mendelssohn Overture for Winds in C Major and Strauss Serenade E-flat major op. 7 for 13 wind instruments
Our final rehearsal was a playthrough which was recorded.
Dan kindly pieced snippets of this rehearsal together and produced this video.
The Listening Project: ‘Hear us play’.

Unfortunately, I was unable to open your recorded video-file, here in France I have a friend who lives in Rugby – (and visits who France regularly) – and is devoted Concert-goer to all your performances. He talks about you in “glowing” terms. As for myself …… my name is Michiel – (a Dutch/Australian Frenchman) – who
Plays Bass Trombone with L’Orchestre Universitaire de Brest.
Hi Michiel, I see Steve has been talking!! I’ve heard about your orchestra too and their excellent standard/reputation. Hopefully someday I’ll get to visit. Kind regards, David
Our Orchestra’s website may possibly be of BBC some interest to you. Sorry about it being in French – (however, it could have been worse and been written in Dutch)
